Absolutely, therapy has been shown to be highly effective for binge eating disorder. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is especially successful, focusing on identifying and changing dysfunctional thought patterns, emotions, and behaviors. Absolutely. We work to provide you with strategies to cope with negative emotions. By working through the underlying reasons you have an unbalanced relationship with food, we aim to alleviate feelings of guilt and shame, boosting your self-esteem and body image in the process.

At Green Heart Therapy, we often use Family-Based Treatment (FBT), particularly when working with children and teens who have an eating disorder. FBT is an evidenced based treatment that is proven to be extremely effective at rapidly reversing malnutrition and eating disorder behaviors. FBT does not focus on finding the root cause of an eating disorder. Instead, FBT believes that parents can be their child’s most powerful advocates and best shot at full recovery and we utilize the family unit to help support the child in their recovery journey. Throughout therapy, the therapist will guide the parents/guardians on how to best support their child at mealtimes and beyond, with the hopes of rapidly restoring their child to a complete and full recovery.
